PCFC announces launch of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the EHS Central Laboratory

The Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, represented by the Planning and Development Department - Trakhees, has announced the launch of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) at the central laboratory for Environment, Health, and Safety Department within the corporation. This initiative aims to meet the growing market demand and provide more efficient, accurate, and speedy services. The new system effectively supports the smooth methodology and organizational interconnectivity nature of the laboratory, contributing to enhancing operational efficiency and data management.

 

Engineer Abdulla Balhoul, CEO of the Planning and Development Department - Trakhees at the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, stated that this step is part of the corporation's strategy and continuous efforts to adopt modern technologies and achieve digital transformation aligned with Dubai's strategy in digitizing life. This initiative follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, emphasizing listening to and keeping pace with the evolving needs of customers driven by technological advancements. He highlighted the corporation's commitment to providing high-quality services that meet standards of efficiency, speed, and customer satisfaction.

 

Balhoul emphasized that the system represents a significant step towards enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring the quality of services provided by the corporation. He pointed out its importance in improving data management and achieving seamless integration between various laboratory operations. The Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is widely used globally, enabling centralized management of all essential elements for laboratory operations. It automates workflow processes, eliminates the need for manual data entry, and enhances operational efficiency by effectively tracking, storing, and updating information in its database. This ensures data accuracy and easy accessibility.

 

LIMS distinguishes through its automated system that monitors and manages all laboratory services and requests, eliminating routine manual processes such as request logging, sample entry, report review, storage, and signing. All these operations are executed smoothly and automatically within the system, saving considerable time and effort.

 

The CEO praised the advantages of the system and its role in transitioning the central laboratory for EHS Department from manual processes to automation. This transition is expected to improve workflow efficiency, data integrity, and accuracy, ensuring consistent operation in accordance with ISO 17025 standards.

 

The Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation has integrated the Laboratory Information Management System with other enterprise systems to automate workflows from sample reception and management to report generation. This integration supports standardization across the laboratory team by digitizing steps in procedures and protocols.

 

Balhoul concluded by expressing confidence that this new system will make a significant difference in improving workflow and increasing laboratory productivity. He emphasized that this enhancement will strengthen their position as a leading institution in the fields of environment, health, and safety within the special development zones under the supervision of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation.
