Dubai Culture Explores the ‘allama Bil Qalam’ Success Story

A delegation from the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) recently visited Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts, literature and heritage, to introduce the Dubai Culture staff to the ‘Allama Bil Qalam’ project. The project launched by the SSEF ensures an access to good education for orphans.

Mr. Mohammed Obaid Al Marri, Director of Human Resources at Dubai Culture, received the delegation at the Dubai Culture headquarters in Dubai Design District. The delegation, thereafter gave a detailed explanation of the project’s objectives, as well as the factors that shaped its success in providing education for orphaned children.

Al Marri said, “The SSEF delegation’s visit is part of our ongoing efforts to promote cooperation and exchange of experiences with civil society organisations and to benefit from successful experiences to provide quality services to our people. This will help boost happiness and welfare across our community, in line with the UAE Vision 2021. We would like to thank SSEF and its officials for their cooperation, their readiness to share their experiences in this field and discuss avenues to drive and develop it, ensuring that education is provided to as many orphans as possible.”

The Allama Bil Qalam project is part of the SSEF’s Academic Empowerment Program, which assures orphans get their right to education and is part of a series of projects and diverse academic educational services that contribute greatly to the sustainability of their educational rights. Through the project, the SSEF leverages community efforts in all its operations and activities to cover the educational needs of orphans, from early childhood years up till all educational development stages.

The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation provides government, and private entities as well as individuals, with the opportunity to help in paying the tuition fees of orphaned children, and provide them with stationery and educational supplies. It also organises academic courses and workshops for orphans, and strives to advance the learning abilities of poorly performing students, elevating them into excellence and distinction levels. The SSEF is an independent government entity that undertakes handling all orphan affairs in the Emirate of Sharjah, one of the arms of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, administratively affiliated to the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.
