Dar Al-Hekma University Interior Design Senior Exhibition caivates visitors with its innovative designs

Dar Al-Hekma University Interior Design Senior Exhibition, held on April 24-25 at Zahran Business Center here in Jeddah under the theme “Offset”, attracted and impressed visitors with innovative designs, which vividly reflected the creative capabilities of Dar Al-Hekma interior design students.

The visitors were dazzled by the showcased works in the exhibition, which reflected meticulous details and designs, thanks to the skills and theories taught to students at the university.

The students carefully selected “Offset” as a theme for this year’s exhibition because it is a common tool used widely by designers and refers to reproducing balance or counter balance. This was manifested across all the showcased designs that encompassed students’ experiences through their creativity, innovation and their intellectual awareness.

The exhibition was held simultaneously with the 20thanniversary celebration of the Interior Design Department establishment. The department has graduated 514 students who have made rich and valuable contributions to society and to the interior design landscape and have added a lot to this field.

Dr. Suhair Al-Qurashi, President of Dar Al-Hekma University, said the Interior Design Department is based on strong foundations and commitments to providing excellent education and arming students with strong professional and academic skills. She said today’s labor market requires professionals who have innovative and miscellaneous skills.

“The exhibition is an innovative platform allowing students to showcase their creative works to employers and land lucrative job opportunities commensurate with their academic levels and skills,” she noted.

Dr. Alaa Zaher Al-Ban, who leads the Interior Design Department, said the courses are taught by 16 team members hailing from nine different nationality and multi-disciplinary backgrounds within the interior design field of education. She said the department celebrates this year its 20thanniversary since inception and the graduation of 514 students over the past years.

She pointed out, “We are proud of the achievements of our senior students and their contributions to the interior design landscape. I am confident that the 23 graduated students will follow in the footsteps of their predecessors, continue their legacy and enrich the interior design landscape with their creativity and innovation. We always encourage our students to adopt a holistic approach to things and make achievements that bring benefit to society and the country.”

Al-Ban’s message to graduated students is “Work smart, enjoy your achievements and remember, aspire and then for sure you will inspire.”

The works of students have different and varied design ideas and took each student around a year to finish it in this innovative way which impressed all visitors.
