Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) President Prince Sultan bin Salman ordered restructuring of the boards of three tourism associations that include Saudi hospitality facilities association, Saudi tourist guide association and Saudi travel and tourism association.

“The SCTNH president recently ordered restructuring of the boards of these three tourism associations, formation of which was approved by the Cabinet in May 2014,” said a commission official here on Wednesday.
The Cabinet resolution provided that the SCTNH president within the first three years and through the coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry should name the members of the boards of associations and then the members to select the board chairperson and the deputy, in each associations.
These associations according to the resolution will carry out a number of tasks, the most important of them are to create proper environment for developing services of intended activity practitioners in the Kingdom and setting a directory for the procedures of applying the quality standards standards in a manner that ensures the rights of both, the investor and the consumer.
The other objectives include attracting investments of the private sector and promote professional level of the association, raise professional awareness among its members, develop the studies and suggestions of relevant regulations and submit them to relevant authority, support the practitioners of the activity, train and support technical cadres who work in the facilities and take part in setting a plan to prompt Saudis to join this sector and tackle potential obstacles for this purpose and to conduct approved training and educational courses and issue certificates to them after coordination with relevant authorities.
The official said that the board members will be composed of experts and leaders in tourism, travel, hospitality, tourist guides and tourism services.
The membership term of the board during the first three years of the association’s foundation is one year from the date of its formation.
Notably, the SCTNH president had announced establishment of tourism associations in the presence of Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq Al-Rabiah during the annual employee meeting of the commission in December 2014.
