Mowasalat Karwa Showcases Sustainable Mobility Innovations at Autonomous e-Mobility Forum

Mowasalat (Karwa) proudly played a prominent role as the Official Transport Partner at the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum, which was organized under the patronage of HE Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, the Minister of Transport, from April 30 - May 2, 2024. The forum served as the perfect stage for the launch of our latest initiative - the introduction of 10 electric school buses that will run during a pilot project for schools until the end of this academic year, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

On this occasion, HE Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mowasalat (Karwa) said:

"Mowasalat is committed to environmental sustainability across all its business segments and has already successfully electrified more than 70% of its public transport fleet, resulting in environmental benefits and economic gains. The company is moving steadily towards the utilization of renewable energy and the adoption of modern transport technologies and innovations in order to achieve the Qatar National Vision."

On the first day of the forum, Mowasalat (Karwa) presented the latest technologies used in fleet operation rooms, at the company’s exhibition booth. Attendees and delegations had the opportunity to take rides in the autonomous e-bus that was set up on a route around the QNCC to experience Level-4 autonomous e-mobility.

Visitors also learned about the electric school bus that was launched by His Excellency Jassim bin Saif Al-Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, and Her Excellency Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education.

On his part, Ahmad Hassan Al Obaidly, CEO of Mowasalat (Karwa), said:

"I extend my thanks to the Ministry of Transport and the organizers of this forum, the first of its kind in the region. It provides an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in autonomous mobility, which is currently one of the most interesting developments in the field of transport worldwide. At Mowasalat, we believe in our ability to further strengthen our leadership role by investing in our human resources, fleet and operation technology, building on the Ministry of Transport's vision to move towards sustainable public transport while improving the services provided to the people of Qatar. We also reach out to our community at grassroot level: Through our collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, we are launching a joint pilot project to operate ten school e-buses to showcase e-mobility paired with the latest safety features for our children.  The fleet is set up in accordance with the highest international standards and practices, and is another step towards achieving environmental sustainability without compromising on safety.

At the core Day 2, Ahmed Mohamed Al-Binali, Public Transport Director at Mowasalat (Karwa), participated in a panel discussion titled "Success Factors for Qatar’s AV Strategies." His insights shed light on the strategic approach and technological advancements that Mowasalat adopted to help driving Qatar's progress in the field of autonomous vehicles (AV) in the public sphere.

On the third day, Mowasalat (Karwa) welcomed a special delegates’ tour at Lusail Depot, the world's largest electric bus depot. This event offered an in-depth look at the company’s extensive facilities and operations that support the country’s sustainable transport network.

Mowasalat (Karwa)'s active contribution to the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum underscored the company’s commitment to leading the way in sustainable transportation and setting new standards in the transportation industry in the region.
